YASUNI

parquet

Yasuní National Park extends over an approximate area. 10,200 km2 in the provinces of Pastaza, and Orellana between the Napo River and the Curaray River in the Amazon basin about 250 kilometers southeast of Quito. The park, fundamentally jungle, was designated by Unesco in 1989 as a biosphere reserve and is part of the territory where the Huaorani nation is located. Two Wao factions, the Tagaeri and Taromenane, are groups in voluntary isolation.

Yasuní is one of the most biodiverse areas of the Earth. There lives 150 species of amphibians, 121 of reptiles, 598 species of birds, and 204 of mammals, and in flora they have identified 2113 species and it is estimated that there are around 3100.

There are three different indigenous groups in the Yasuní National Park and its surroundings: the Waorani, Kichwa and Shuar. The non contacted gropus such as Tagaeri and the Taromenane, descendants of the ancient warriors, have fled to the depths of the forest to escape "civilization" and continue without contact with the world.
